Tell me how it worksIt's easy! All we need is your final manuscript and the signed publication agreement and we're off and running. What do you accept?We review every submission, and we don't publish hate literature, anything illegal or advocating illegal actions, or pornography. Most everything else is ok. Does my book have to be edited? Independent editing is a good idea - we all have trouble editing our own work - but it is not required. Will I see a draft? In as little as 2 weeks, you'll see pdf drafts of both cover and interior. You may review and approve the pdfs for print, request changes, or order a bound hardcopy proof for review. The Other Services page has more info. So I get to approve the book before it goes to print? Nothing ever goes to print without your approval What if I want to make changes? We'll ask for your final, ready-to-publish manuscript before we start layout, but sometimes you just don't notice things until you see it in book form. When you review the draft, whether electronic or print, whichever you choose, you can request changes through our online change request form. The cost is $50 per round of 25 changes. You can order as many rounds of changes as you need to be sure your book is perfect before it's published. What about the cover? You can choose to have a cover with an image (graphical) or without an image (non-graphical). If you have an image you want to use, we'll design the cover around it. If not, we can help you find an image to use from the huge selection of stock images available online, or we can find images for you. We also frequently work with outside designers if you want to have your cover designed elsewhere. Can my book be hardcover? Yes it can. Our standard $499 setup fee is for a trade-paperback sized softcover book. For $100 you can upgrade to a hardcover book with dustjacket. If you need both hardcover and softcover, the upgrade fee is $200. What trim sizes are available? Most books are published as 5½ x 8½ or 6 x 9, but 5 x 8 is also available for poetry or small devotional books. Larger sizes include 7½ x 9¼, 7 x 10, 8 x 10 and 8½ x 11. Once I approve, what happens? On approval, your book goes to quality control, then it's uploaded to the print system and the first copy is printed and sent to you as a keepsake. At that point the book is released for distribution and will begin appearing for sale on Amazon, B&N etc. At the same time, you'll be able to order books for your own use and track monthly sales. How do I get paid? Sales are reported monthly and royalties are paid quarterly. How long does all this take? If your manuscript is ready to go, the whole process from sign up to first book in your hands can happen in as little as 6-8 weeks. But my book has a color interior.
